Turn a session into a podcast recap

A Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) audio overview of your session that plays like a recap podcast, for players to catch up on the drive over.

With Archivist and Gemini Notebook both connected, you paste one prompt and the assistant handles the session lookup and the audio.

Install both connections

Archivist Nexus installs the Archivist MCP and a Gemini Notebook companion into Claude Desktop in one pass. Select it during setup — the installer still labels it NotebookLM, Google's name for the tool before July 2026.

As of July 2026 there is no official Gemini Notebook app for ChatGPT, so the one-prompt version of this recipe is Claude Desktop only. You can still do it from ChatGPT by hand — see below. Session prep runs in either assistant with no extra steps.

Use the Archivist MCP and Gemini Notebook together to turn a session into an audio overview.

1. Call list-campaigns-tool and list-sessions-tool. Ask me which campaign and session. Wait for my answer.
2. Call get-session-tool, list-beats-tool, list-moments-tool, and list-quests-tool for that session.
3. In Gemini Notebook, create an Audio Overview that:
   - Walks through events in chronological order
   - Highlights party decisions and emotional beats
   - Ends with 2-3 unresolved hooks as teasers

Do not add plot points that are not in Archivist. Keep the tone of a recap podcast for players who were at the table. Tell me when it is ready and what you included.

Doing it from ChatGPT instead

ChatGPT reads your campaign through the official Archivist app just fine. What it cannot do is drive Gemini Notebook: as of July 2026 Google publishes no Gemini Notebook app or connector for ChatGPT. So you bridge the last step yourself.

  1. Paste the prompt below into ChatGPT with the Archivist app connected.
  2. Copy the script it returns.
  3. In Gemini Notebook, make a notebook, paste the script in as a source, and click Generate Audio Overview.

Script-only prompt (ChatGPT)

Questions

Does this work in ChatGPT?

Partly. As of July 2026 Google publishes no Gemini Notebook app or connector for ChatGPT, so ChatGPT cannot create the Audio Overview itself. It can still read your campaign through the Archivist app and write the recap script, which you paste into Gemini Notebook as a source by hand. Same result, three manual steps instead of none. The one-prompt version needs Claude Desktop and the Nexus Gemini Notebook companion.

Is the Gemini Notebook connection official?

No. Google does not publish a Gemini Notebook MCP server. Nexus bundles a community CLI (jacob-bd/notebooklm-mcp-cli, MIT licensed) to drive it. Expect occasional breakage. If it does, ask your assistant to write the recap as a script instead and paste that into Gemini Notebook by hand.

Why not just upload the session audio to Gemini Notebook?

Accuracy. A GM in our Discord tried exactly that, and Gemini Notebook invented an entity and mixed up two character names because it was hearing table accents, not tracking who said what. The Archivist record is already transcribed and reviewed, so names come through right.

Can I cover a whole arc instead of one session?

Yes. Ask for a session range instead of one session. Expect less detail per session, which is usually right for an arc.

Could players hear something secret?

Check before sharing. The script comes from the session record, but if you keep GM-only notes in journals, review the output first.
