Connect Archivist once

Every recipe reads your campaign live through the Archivist MCP server. Connect it to one assistant — Claude or ChatGPT, whichever you already use, not both — and each recipe becomes a single prompt. The two Gemini Notebook recipes are the exception: one prompt in Claude Desktop, a few manual steps in ChatGPT.

What is a recipe?

A page with one job: a copy-paste prompt, the steps around it, and the caveats. You paste the prompt into whichever assistant you already use — Claude or ChatGPT, not both — and get something you can use at the table. No coding.

Do I need to connect anything?

Yes, one assistant. Connect the Archivist MCP server to Claude or ChatGPT — whichever you already use, not both. Cursor and Windsurf work too. After that, every recipe is a single prompt: it fetches the campaign itself instead of you copying anything in. The exception is the two Gemini Notebook recipes, which are one prompt in Claude Desktop and a few manual steps in ChatGPT. Each page walks through both.

Does this cost extra?

No. Recipes use your existing Archivist subscription and whatever AI assistant you already have. Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) is free with a Google account.

Why is there no recap recipe?

Archivist already writes recaps, and session handouts turn them into a themed PDF you can email your party. The Cookbook only covers work the product does not already do for you.

Will these prompts make things up?

Every recipe tells the assistant to use only your campaign data and to label anything inferred. That reduces invention without eliminating it, so check surprising details against the session record before repeating them at the table.

Can I change the prompts?

Yes, they are starting points. Adjust tone, length, and sections to fit your table. If you land on something better, post it in the Discord.
